2WD Tire Matchup |
|
While leveling my truck, I noticed my passenger
side is higher. Why is that? |
|
|
4X4 Lift Types |
|
The reason
is simply weight. There are more components on the driver side versus the
passenger side. Some of these components are the brake system, fuel system,
battery, driver, driver controls, etc. And there is only a few things on the
passenger side to help compensate the weight like the engine and transmission
being offset from center and the exhaust system. All these help compensate
but not equally. And after age and use, you will get this sag condition. |

Why use wheel spacers / wheel adapters and are they
safe? |
|
|
|
You either
use them to allow your wheels to stick out more for the more aggressive look,
create less backspacing for the use of wider tires, after market wheels, after market suspension, or to change the
lug pattern. Some cases allow for multiple reasons. Yes, they are safe. After
many years and thousands of them being used, if installed and used properly
there is nothing to worry about. |

I just bought a used Dakota / Durango. How do I
know if I have any lift, and if so how much? |
|
|
|
Any easy
way to tell how much lift / drop you have, if any is to take a measurement
from your rim lip to the bottom of the fender as shown. Then compare your
numbers with the ones below. |

I am thinking of getting a body lift. My concern is
the frame showing and clearance issues. How bad is it? |
|
|
|
A body lift
is not to bad on Dakota's and Durango's. You can see the difference in the
below pictures. As for clearance, you still gain on approach and departure
angles. However, you do not gain on breakover angle. |
